Netflix series ‘Arcane’ officially gets season 2

Netflix usually answers the question of whether a series will be renewed with a follow-up season several months after its launch. Often this answer is based on a trade-off between production costs and ratings. Now, however, the streaming service has announced with lightning speed that the series will be continued, even before the launch of the first part was fully completed.

Arcane: Season 2 Announcement

The video confirms that the production of S2 has started. A release date has not yet been announced, but it will be a while according to Nicolo Laurent. He is the CEO of Riot Games, the company behind the computer game League of Legends. Fortunately, he indicates that part 2 will not be around 6 years away like the first season, but rather that the release will be at least after 2022.

First season of Arcane aired in 3 parts on Netflix

The first season of Arcane aired on Netflix in recent weeks and these episodes were extremely well received. On IMDb, at the time of writing, the series even receives an average of 9.4 out of 10! Season 1 was split into 3 parts that appeared on Netflix spread over 3 weeks:

  • Part 2 (episodes 4-6): November 13, 2021 at 09:00
  • Part 3 (episodes 7-9): November 20, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

Plot, information and trailer of Arcane

Arcane delves into the delicate balance between the wealthy city of Piltover and the seedy underbelly of Zaun. Tensions between these city-states run high with the creation of hextech – a way for everyone to control magical energy – in Piltover; and in Zaun, a new drug called shimmer transforms people into monsters. The rivalry between the cities splits families and friends as Arcane brings to life the relationships that shaped some of League of Legends’ famous champions, including Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Jayce and Viktor.

Based on the world behind the game League of Legends, the animated series features a complex world full of moral decisions, breathtaking animation and exciting stories.
