After 5 seasons, the wildly popular Netflix series Stranger Things will come to an end. The streaming service announced this today. But first we can still count down to the launch of season 4A on May 27th and season 4B on July 1st. And of course, the full series with episodes from part 5 of the series.
Fourth season of Stranger Things will be split into two by Netflix, release dates announced
Let’s start with the best news: after almost 3 years (!) of waiting, we can soon finally enjoy the fourth season of Stranger Things. The first episodes will be available to watch starting May 27th, 2022. As Netflix has released today, a few months before the launch.
However, this only concerns Volume 1. The fourth season will be split into two parts, as Volume 2 will appear within a few weeks later: on July 1, 2022.

Stranger Things will come to an end after 5 seasons
Unfortunately, there is also bad news. We have been informed in an open letter from Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the creators of this hit Netflix series, when the series will end. Below you will find the content of the letter and the original tweet from the official Twitter account of Stranger Things, which shows that after season 4, only a fifth part will follow. After that, it’s over for the mysterious ratings blockbuster.
“Hi nerds! Do you copy? It’s been a little while. With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Given the unprecedented length, and to get it to you as soon as possible, Season 4 will be released in two volumes. Volume One will release on May 27th; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1st.
So that’s the good news. It’s coming soon. And it’s bigger than ever. It’s also the beginning of the end.
Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.
There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.
Over and out,
Matt and Ross”

Story of the new episodes
In a press release, Netflix has also already revealed what the fourth season of the series will be about. The story continues six months after The Battle of Starcourt brought terror and devastation to Hawkins. The group of friends are struggling with the aftermath of this event, and are separated from each other for the first time. In addition, the challenges of high school aren’t making it any easier. It is precisely during this difficult time that the group encounters a new and terrifying supernatural threat, resulting in a gruesome mystery. Solving this mystery is their only chance to finally end the horrors of the Upside Down.
