SkyShowtime announces launch date and pricing in Europe

This morning, for the first time, more news was revealed about the release date and subscription price of SkyShowtime in Europe. The Nordics are already on the schedule this month: on September 20, 2022. A subscription will cost approximately €7 per month.

SkyShowtime to be launched first in European Nordics

Just over a year ago, it was announced by Comcast Corporation and Paramount Global that they would be launching a new streaming service together in Europe. The idea for SkyShowtime was born, but we didn’t yet know when exactly they would go live with the streaming service where. Today that has changed, as the video on demand platform has chosen to focus its arrows on the Nordics first. In Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, SkyShowtime will go live on September 20, 2022. Remarkably, the streaming service announces just two weeks before the release date when they will first go online.

Netherlands to follow later in Q4, first expectation of price subscription seems to be able to be pronounced now

According to a press release, the Netherlands will be the next country in which SkyShowtime will go live later in Q4. Only during the following months and in Q1 of 2023 will Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Central and Eastern Europe follow. The subscription costs and exact release dates for all these markets will be announced “during the coming months”.

However, we do get a first glimpse into the price of a subscription to SkyShowtime, as in Finland subscribers will pay €6.99 per month. The costs in Sweden (± €7.34), Norway (± €7.92) and Denmark (± €9.27) are all close to that. With this price, a membership seems to become considerably cheaper than the total cost of $20 p/m that was expected by some when the offerings of the American video on demand platforms Peacock and Paramount+ are added together.

First official trailer released

On SkyShowtime we can enjoy over 10,000 hours of content from major studios such as Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, Sky Studios, Peacock, Paramount+, Showtime, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. In the trailer below, you’ll get a taste of the new titles on schedule, including Yellowstone, Top Gun: Maverick, Sing 2, The Offer, Dexter: New Blood and many more. More information about the movies and series will be announced soon by the video service.
