Disney+ launches ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022) in September
Soon it will be time for already the third anniversary of streaming service Disney+. Last year, this was celebrated for the first time with a special event. There were promotional discounts, lots of new movies & series and first glimpses of upcoming releases on the video on demand platform.
This year, September 8, 2022 marks Disney Plus Day and Disney+ has just published the calendar below with some of the launches. Among these titles are Cars on Tour, Pinocchio and Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.

Previous Marvel films came online sooner at Disney+
With this release date, a gap of 65 days has been chosen between the cinema premiere and streaming release. Thor: Love and Thunder was first seen on the big screen on July 5. Previously, Disney+ usually kept 70 days as a waiting period for a launch on the video on demand platform, yet the 65-day period is shorter than we have become accustomed to.
Lately, The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service increasingly opted for 49 days (7 weeks) between the theatrical and online date. Whether Disney+ is again working toward longer gaps between theaters and streaming or whether a premiere on Disney Plus Day just worked out well in the schedule is currently unknown.
Plot and information of the film
In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, we find the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey he has never experienced before: a quest for inner peace. But Thor’s retirement is abruptly interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gorr the God Slayer, who seeks the extermination of the gods.
To deal with the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together they embark on a gripping cosmic adventure to unravel the mystery surrounding the God Slayer’s revenge. Together, they try to stop him before it’s too late.
